Precision Diagnostics, based in San Diego, California is a fast-growing clinical laboratory that specializes in providing quantitative drug testing, primarily for the purpose of helping physicians monitor their patients undergoing treatment for pain or substance abuse. Precision's objective is to improve patient adherence/compliance with their prescription regimen and protect medical practices from liability.

The Accounts Receivable Collector 1 is responsible for follow-up tasks relating to claims processing, error processing edits, inbound mail and gathering appropriate documents to support AR Collectors 2 and 3 to bring accounts to final resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Meets weekly and monthly productivity standards
  • Ensure all data has been entered with accuracy as needed to meet productivity and quality requirements
  • Maintain working knowledge of HIPAA and Compliance practices
  • Clearly and concisely explains components of healthcare processes and terminology to clients and patients of all backgrounds
  • Verifies insurance eligibility with various government and commercial insurance carriers
  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with staff in the field to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Contact clients and insurance companies to obtain and provide necessary patient detail to ensure claim is submitted to payer timely
  • Communicate with Client Services when information is incorrect on a patient account.
  • Obtain and maintain medical records from Clients based on Payer requests.
  • Ensures that patient demographics, insurance information, verification and eligibility have been established and documented
  • Ensures timeliness, quality, and efficiency in all work to comply with mandated, legislative, and Federal requirements
  • Resolve errors by updating applicable patient demographic information, adding appropriate billing information as required or other appropriate actions
  • Analysis and review of billing error and clearinghouse denial errors data to identify root causes and work with management to implement upfront system edits as applicable.
  • Find appropriate data for each accession based on scans, Starlims, Passport or Payor websites.
  • Queue accession to send Client correspondence if missing Demographic, Financial or payor information cannot be found
  • Obtain confirmation of claim status after claim has been submitted.
  • Follow up on claims with No Activity in a timely manner.
  • Mailing of claim CMS-1500 forms with required documentation outlined by payer.
  • Finalize appeals from Collectors after obtaining documents and mails to the appropriate payor.
  • Sends and receives Faxes from Clients, Payors and Internal customers daily.
  • Utilize POWER Bl reports.
  • Creates reports as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Preferred 1 year of Billing in a Lab, Doctors office or other Healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record software strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and strong work ethic
  • Works cooperatively in a team atmosphere

  • Become fluent in Microsoft 365 (formerly Office635) applications assigned to your role. Common applications include Teams, Word, Excel, Tasks and Planner
  • Complete training in a timely manner that is assigned to you. Training is primarily conducted via Microsoft Learn modules and is assigned based on:
    • Position/Job Role Most positions require a core set of Microsoft 365 working knowledge
    • Project Role As member of a project team, you may be required to complete training before you can engage with the project team or commence project work
    • Ad-Hoc Based on review of your performance via support requests, training modules will be assigned to increase skills

ADDITIONAL JOB CONSIDERATIONS:

  • This position is Full-Time
  • The hourly rate is $20
  • No relocation assistance package.
  • Flexible start times between 5:00am and 8:30am
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods and working on a computer.
