Job Summary:

Perform a variety of purchasing assignments to procure supplies, raw materials, parts and assemblies necessary for operation of the organization. Contact suppliers, examine bids, and good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity specifications.

Essential Functions:

• Expedite all purchases
• Purchase materials in a manner to help ensure overall profitability of the company
• Possess an attitude of continuous improvement
• Resolution of all non-conforming material paperwork
• Reconcile purchases with accounts payable
• Liaison between supplier and company
• Maintain safe environment

Minimum Requirements:

High School education or GED required. Three to five years in a related industry.

Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations. Must be able to communicate providing feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to answer questions in a professional and friendly manner. Requires occasional public contact. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.

Essential Physical Functions:

Requires sitting for prolonged periods. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computer, photocopier, calculator, etc. Requires vision correctable to within normal range for designing, spreadsheets, etc. Requires ability to give and receive communication to different levels of the organization.

Safety Requirements:

• Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
• Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

Equipment Used (but not limited to):

Telephone, Computer and related software, Copy Machine, Fax Machine, Basic Office Equipment.

Availability:

• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.
• Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Travel:

Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Working Conditions:

Works in a typical office setting. Occasional shop exposure.
