EVENT MANAGER – Waterbrook Winery 

Precept Wine is the largest privately owned wine company in the Northwest. We’re seamlessly integrated to run our own vineyards, wineries, and world-class tasting rooms. Currently we are looking for the best and brightest to fill an immediate opening for a Tasting Room Event Manager at our Waterbrook Winery Tasting Room, in Walla Walla, WA. The Tasting Room Event Manager reports directly to the Tasting Room Manager.

The Tasting Room Event Manager will provide event leadership, training and coaching to the team to ensure the success and development of each event; provide the best of class customer service through engagement, follow up and effective selling and event hosting techniques; ensuring that operations of each event are well thought-out and executed with efficiency through strong communication with the management team, staff members, corporate office, and customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a welcoming atmosphere and unique event experience to all guests
  • Describe wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history to all guests
  • Effectively suggest and sell wine as well as event experiences
  • Promote wine club sign ups and engagement in tasting room events
  • Work closely with wine club manager to plan and execute wine club specific events
  • Connect and communicate with a diverse clientele; provide general tourist information and assist guests as local concierge
  • Ability to manage event vendors and event partners with timely and seamless communication
  • Accurately handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register and accounting of daily sales; processing returns, discounts, etc.
  • In partnership with Tasting Room Manager, coordinate hospitality and special events planning and execution
  • Ideate and plan revenue driving events for the tasting room; work with Tasting Room Manager to submit project requests for marketing support to Corporate Office; target and build relationships with local hospitality hubs to drive traffic to tasting room and tasting room events
  • Coordinate with wedding planners and wedding clients to manage venue operations smoothly
  • Market and sell tasting room venue for special events; coordinate with clients to meet expectations for each event
  • Provide initial training and continuous coaching to tasting room staff to ensure a high level of service and hospitality

Desired Skills and Requirements:

  • 2 years’ customer service experience
  • 1-year sales, event planning and supervisory experience
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Passion for wine
  • Demonstrated sales ability; demonstrated event planning experience 
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and talk for lengthy periods of time 
  • Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions
  • Demonstrated people and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to address and resolve conflict
  • Strong computer skills (Excel and POS software proficiency a plus)
  • Be able to maintain an impeccable level of confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Must be able to lift items up to 40lbs
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings (especially during events)
