We are currently looking for a Studio Floater to join our Team.

The Role: The Studio Floater moves around the studio to help complete any projects where extra hands are needed. This position requires a self-starter who can adapt to ever changing priorities and enjoys multi-tasking. This role requires learning the techniques and processes used in all departments, over time developing into a versatile employee who assists the studio in meeting production deadlines. A Studio Floater takes training in their home department first. We are currently seeking floaters for our Clay Goods Department.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Willingness to learn new tasks and shift projects frequently
  • Ability to take direction from multiple sources, prioritize tasks and seek out assignments
  • Capable of doing a wide variety of work in all departments, from Tilemaking to Set-Up and Casting
  • Experience in a manufacturing or factory environment a plus
  • Capable of physically demanding work on a daily basis
  • An ability to differentiate colors and patterns
  • A work record that includes reliability and consistency
  • Show the flexibility necessary to a production-based work environment

Your Skills:

  • Familiarity with ceramics and/or manufacturing processes
  • A willingness to demonstrate Pratt Larson’s mission and core values: Enrichment, Cultivating Culture, Tile Dreams, Leading the Way and Taking Ownership
  • The ability to perform multiple functions effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team environment
  • Possess well developed communication skills, ability to stand for up to eight hours a day frequently lifting, ability to see color
  • Able to focus on details and have reading, writing and basic math skills
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively with a diverse team

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Sitting or standing for a good part of the day
  • Other activities include climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, repetitive motions, grasping, and feeling

Hours/Compensation:

This job is full-time, non-exempt with working hours Monday – Friday or Tuesday – Saturday 40 hours per week, onsite, in our Studio Factory in Portland.

This position pays from $18.00 dependent upon experience
