Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Beaver Dam, WI is looking to hire a part-time dietary cook! We are a small privately owned assisted living located on 212 E. Industrial Drive. We pride ourselves on treating each person that walks through our doors like family whether they be staff, residents or family members!

Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and engaged. The Dietary Cook is responsible for assisting the Administrator/Care Coordinator with tasks to support daily operations and support dietary functions of residents including meal preparation, cooking, food delivery, feeding, cleaning, etc.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality care to residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, and individuality.
• Provides individualized care to each resident that supports the ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental and social well-being.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents in the delivery of care to them. Interacts with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.
• Fully understands all aspects of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse and is responsible for promptly reporting evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents’ rights to the Administrator/Care Coordinator or administrative staff.
• Delivers meals to residents in a timely manner.
• Providing assistance in all dietary functions.
• Prepares meals for entire resident population.
• Creates weekly menus and provides the menu to residents for the upcoming week.
• Assists in maintaining a safe, organized, and clean environment including organizing supplies, cleaning the supplies, and establish a sanitary work environment.
• Reports environmental deficiencies to the Administrator/Care Coordinator such as lighting or equipment problems.
• Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
• Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with company safety and infection control policies, including washing of hands, use of disposable gloves where indicated and proper disposal of soiled materials.
• Walks extensively to and from various locations of the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

•  Must be 18 years or older 
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to prepare appetizing and appealing food.
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Must be knowledgeable in general sanitation and safe food handling.
• Ability to exert physical effort, standing, lifting, and carrying materials or equipment.
• Must be able to relate to and work with elderly that may be ill, disabled, emotionally upset and at times hostile.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to communicate effectively with others through oral and written communication.
• Preferred two (2) years of cooking experience, but not required.
