Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota.
Job Summary 
This part-time position implements and evaluates continuing education and skills training programs based off Staff Development Plan to assist nurses in attaining new skills and knowledge, gaining increasing levels of competence, growing professionally, and supporting standards of patient care.
Responsibilities include: 
•Participates with Staff Development Coordinator to identify staff development needs and provide education programming to meet needs.
•Assist with American Heart Courses and other educational offerings. 
•Assist in evaluation of resources to meet development goals and objectives. 
•Provides assistance to the Staff Development Coordinator with an orientation program based on essential competencies for newly employed nursing 
•staff. 
•Provides assistance to the Staff Development Coordinator for educational support to nursing staff requiring performance assistance. 
•Assists with unit resource personnel to assure staff achieve and maintain mandatory clinical competencies. 
•Plan and educate under the supervision of the Staff Development Coordinator monthly educational offerings.
•Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, standards, and other documentation related to nursing practice. Attend policy and procedure 
•committee meetings.
•Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications 
Graduate from an approved school of nursing, three years of clinical experience is preferred. 
Excellent communication skills are required. Ability to plan, conduct, and teach clinical nursing programs applying curriculum development standards 
and adult learning theory. 
Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training per policy. 
EMR as appropriate, Excel, Power Point, Word, Internet, and Outlook; others that support staff development activities.
Prairie Lakes Healthcare System has a Drug Free Workplace Policy. An accepted offer will require a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment.
