POSITION SUMMARY
Collects, completes, retrieves, disseminates and stores patient medical records. Oversees the productivity and quality of transcribed reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes chart deficiencies and works closely with physicians to accomplish timely chart completion.
Ensure that all dictated reports, diagnostic tests, notes and signed physician orders are available within the electronic charts. Deficiencies are entered into the computers and patient charts are placed in the appropriate physician box for further physician dictation.
Uploads reports and images from other websites into the patients EHR.
Distributes deficiency lists and delinquency letters to the physicians weekly as well as the Chief of Staff.
Monitors transcription productivity and quality.
Pull charts for physicians to complete deficiencies.
Completes final review of charts.
Fax outside physician orders to the appropriate clinics/physicians for chart completion.
Assists the quality department with QA/PEER reviews to ensure that charts get placed in the appropriate reviewing physician's box and then routed back to QA when completed.
Prepare, print/upload patients charts to a CD for release of information requests.
Answers phone calls from outside clinics, hospitals, agencies, patients or physicians.
Reviews payroll report and make appropriate changes.
Reviews accuracy of the Master Patient Index.
Works with IT department to monitor and solve problems with dictation equipment and computer system.
Other duties may be assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or six months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and training. One year of hospital business experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
RHIA or RHIT certification.
Computer Skills
Microsoft applications, CPSI, and Fusion.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary. Must have the ability to plan, organize and complete administrative assignments as directed. Must have the ability to deal tactfully with hospital personnel and the general public. Must have the ability to do word processing and transcription. Must have a working knowledge of computer applications. Verbal and written communication skills with a thorough knowledge of medical terminology, English grammar, punctuation and composition are necessary. Must be adept at communicating with individuals' age young adult through adult. A pleasant voice is required.
