Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation is Hiring a Program Assistant (On-Call position) Near Mayetta, KS

Supervisor: Director of Operations

Location: 15424 K Rd. Mayetta, KS

Pay Rate: $16.09/hour

SCHEDULE: Must be available for ON-CALL needs when:

  • After School Program: M-F, 3:00pm-8:00pm
  • Summer Break & No School Days: M-F 8:30pm-5:00pm
  • Flexible to work after hours, including weekends as needed.

Role:

The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the development, monitoring, and enforcing of Boys & Girls Club (BGC) community center policies; assists in supervising daily community activities; responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of community center facilities, furnishing and equipment, and assists in maintaining records, statistics, and memberships.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.


Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license free of occupational restrictions. Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.

Experience: One year of similar or related experience. Must have swimming abilities

Education: High School Diploma/GED

  • Must obtain Food Handlers certification within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Must obtain Spillet University online BGCA Basic certification & Mentoring in Indian Country certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Must obtain First Aid, CPR, & Lifeguard certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Must obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification within 1 year of hire.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Knowledge:

  • Administrative: Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as phone systems, copies, scanners, printers, Microsoft Office programs, internet navigation including social media, email, managing files and records.
  • English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Skills:

  • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking: Talking to others to convey information effectively, including public speaking in front of large groups.
  • Reading & Writing: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents. Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

Abilities:

  • Problem Sensitivity - ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.
  • Far Vision: The ability to see details at a distance.
  • Near Vision: The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Oral Comprehension & Expression - ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences so others will understand.
  • Speech Clarity - ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Selective Attention: The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
