Dentist:
• Provide oral health service to the designated population in accordance with IHS policies and
professional standards.
• Provide diagnostic and preventive oral health services to patients by applying topical fluorides
per best practices.
• Studies results of examination and determines types of services required and develops a treatment plan for the patient.
• Perform endodontic, prosthodontic, operative, periodontal, pedodontics, and oral surgery.
• Administers local anesthesia.
• Inform the patients about good dental health practices and participate in educational programs
for the improvement of health conditions among service population.
• Consult on a regular basis and as requested by the clinical director about patients' medical
condition and progress.
• Participate in the Southern Colorado Ute Service Unit's (SCUSU) continuous performance
improvement activities as they relate to the scope of work.
• Document findings in the electronic dental record (EDR) at the end of patient encounter according to
SCUSU policy and procedures, AAAHC standards, and CMS regulations.
• Maintain unrestricted Dental licensure in the region or state of practice.
• Maintain credentialing and privileges at SCUSU.
Dental Clinic service hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Service hours are also
7:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesdays.

Requirements
Must be a graduate of an accredited dental school and possess a D.D.S. or
D.M.D. degree. Contractor must be a graduate of an accredited residency program in general
dentistry.
Must possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration to practice General Dentistry from a State, the District of Columbia,
the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Must be certified by the American Board of General Dentistry. Contractor
must be credentialed and privileged to provide general dental services through the Southern Colorado
Ute IHS Dental Clinic.
Maintain credentialing and privileges at SCUSU.
Have a valid driver's license
Must be willing and able to pass federal security clearance
