Algebra 1 and Living Environment Regents Exam Tutor - Brooklyn, NY

Job Description: We are seeking a tutor to provide in-person Algebra 1 and Living Environment tutoring in the lead-up to the Regents exams for students at the High School for Service & Learning at Erasmus located at 911 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226. The tutors will work with small groups of students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:50am to 1:30pm. The program is scheduled to start April 9, 2024 and run through May 29, 2024.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience tutoring or teaching Algebra 1 and Living Environment preferred
• Willingness to work as a team and support both teachers and students
• Strong communication skills required to collaborate with teachers and students
• Available to work the hours specified above Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the school site
• Dedication to supporting academic and personal success, particularly among minority and low-income students.
• Passion for educational equity and social justice

Responsibilities:As an Education Champion, you will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to provide the targeted support and interventions students need on any given day. You'll be assigned to small group instruction. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring students have the rigorous and culturally responsive educational support they deserve.Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive pay rate of $22/hr with the opportunity to earn $24.20/hr* with a completion bonus.
• Education Champions are not paid during school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
• Education Champions will be required to attend one 30-minute event per quarter and complete 5 minutes of asynchronous training per week.
