Role: Assistant Director, Permanent Supportive Housing 

Reports to: Senior Director 

Status: Full-Time, Exempt (Salary)

Location: Cloverfield

Summary

The Assistant Director of Housing, DHS will support the Program Director of DHS Housing, in overseeing the site, employees, and clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Develop effective, trusting relationships with clients using a client-centered approach that includes motivational interviewing and harm reduction
2. Provide Clinical consultation to staff working with difficult clinical situations, and suggest appropriate clinical interventions.
3. Daily coordination and oversight of program operations and program activities, including supervision of Program Managers.
4. Provide administrative supervision to staff working towards licensure.
5. Work with Brilliant Corners, HACLA and HACoLA to address policy or client related advocacy issues.
6. Assist Program Management staff in recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of direct service staff
7. In partnership with Programs Director of Housing, DHS Downtown, provide leadership and
supervision to housing department Program Managers.
8. Ensure that data is being entered into the DHS database (CHAMP) in a timely manner
9. Monitor that staff are providing appropriate level of service and that progress notes are being
completed in a timely manner.
10. Organize documentation for housing applications (HACoLA, HACLA and Brilliant Corners)
11. Ensure intake and psychosocial assessment are completed for all referrals within timeline listed in DHS ICMS work order
12. Monitor that goal plans are being updated quarterly
13. Ensure data entry accuracy for reporting requirements’ outcomes
14. Oversee chart accuracy for audit purposes
15. Participate in case conference, staff meetings, trainings and retreats
16. Maintain client confidentiality at all times and ensure to follow agency, state and HIPAA laws
17. Provide crisis intervention for clients when necessary and follow up on grievances
18. Attend Quality Assurance meetings
19. Provide death and dying debriefing with staff when directed
20. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures

Qualifications

1. Licensed Mental Health Provider holding an MSW, or equivalent degree (2 years post License
preferred)
2. Extensive experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders
3. At least 2 years of management/supervisory experience preferred
4. Able to work in a high tolerance Harm Reduction model with Members who have multiple barriers
5. Demonstrated knowledge of issues faced by population served
6. Extensive knowledge of local and federal government benefits and entitlements

7. Knowledge of other social service providers
8. Detail oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal,
computer, and cross-cultural communication skills
9. Computer literate; able to effectively use computerized database for client file management, with
basic skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel programs
10. Skilled in data collection
11. Valid CA Driver’s license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record
12. Academic background in Social Work or Psychology strongly preferred

Work Environment 

1. Combination of field and office environment
2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
3. On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
4. Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
5. Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
6. May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
