Summary:
The Software Engineer will be responsible for writing code, writing unit tests, and working collaboratively with Powin's Cloud and Data team. The ideal candidate for this role is backend Java developer. The role is hands on and assists with developing, refining, and advancing Powin's battery energy storage technology for use in the next generation of the grid.
Job Details:

• Collaborate with team to develop new software for Powin's energy storage system. Develops and implements backend Java applications to support business requirements as per specifications
• Perform program coding and testing as part of a Scrum Team using Agile Software Development Lifecycle.
• Resolve technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation
• Work closely with other Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to meet deadlines
• Implement features in Java, writes unit tests, and contributes actively to code reviews
• Work with Powin's Data Analytics Team, Technical Product Management, Quality Assurance, and other software engineers to create and maintain cloud-based software
• Participate in testing and troubleshooting tasks to help the team overcome challenges
• Participate in Code Inspections and Agile ceremonies
• Review, and at times, contribute to product requirements documents and specifications documents
• Contribute to investigation of production issues and assists in resolution
• Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• 1 to 3 years of experience with Object Oriented Programming (proficiency in Java is a must)
• 1 to 3 years of experience with SQL (PostGres preferred)
• 1 to 2 years web development skills (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
• Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to learn new frameworks, new environments, and new technologies
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support international teams
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Limited travel requirements
• Experience with AWS is a plus
• Experience with Python is a plus
• Experience in the energy industry is a plus
