Your Job Summary

As an experienced Utility Foreman, we will heavily rely on your ability to plan the work in front of you and properly execute. Strong leadership qualities will be beneficial to help you succeed in your day-to-day responsibilities. Experience operating an array of heavy equipment is beneficial, but not required. PDG has a huge potential for promotion and growth and being able to help train your co-workers is a must. We believe a safety-first approach is crucial for success and expect our team members to have this same mindset.

Your Responsibilities as our Utility Foreman

  • Follow all company safety policies and ensure all employees and subcontractors are compliant; Lead others by example regarding all company safety policies
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel
  • Maintain the highest level of service and quality on all projects and job sites
  • Monitor and manage production on all sites
  • Resolve quickly and amicably all conflicts or miscommunication that occur job sites
  • Report project status to supervisors; provide paperwork as required
  • Encourage and promote a positive work environment for all co-workers
  • Occasional overtime as needed and desired
  • Night shift work as projects require
  • Travel and overnight stay on projects located outside of 2 hour traveling radius
  • Inspect equipment before and after each shift
  • Perform daily equipment maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, fuel, lubricants, fluids, and track cleaning
  • Report any problems or issues to direct supervisor
  • Additional job functions and responsibilities may be required and assigned by management as necessary to meet the required results

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 8-year underground utility experience, of which 2 year must be in a foreman position
  • Knowledge of standard construction equipment and materials
  • Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, equipment maintenance and use, and OSHA guidelines
  • Ability to read, or learn to read, drawings, plans, and blueprints
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Good physical condition and stamina with ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to pass drug screen and pre-employment background check
  • Physically able to perform recurrent physical labor including:
  • Driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Loading and unloading equipment into and out of delivery vehicles
  • Operating hand and power tools requiring repetitive use of hands, arms, and legs
  • Ability to work safely outdoors under adverse weather conditions
  • Vision adequate to drive, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
  • Hearing adequate to hear equipment in operation, approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance, and conversations both in person and over the telephone/computer
  • Flexibility to work a changing schedule that could include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, and overtime
