Performs all duties associated with aircraft maintenance machinist support on T-38 aircraft to include, but not limited to maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. Machinist shall produce replacement parts and for making repairs to mechanical equipment, airframe structures and systems. Produces tooling, jigs, fixtures and other related items, as needed. Work involves the following: interpreting written instructions and specifications, planning and laying out of work, using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments, setting up and operating standard machine tools and equipment to include presses, lathes, milling and heat-treating equipment. Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC)-operated equipment is required. Incumbent must be proficient in the reading of blue prints, technical specifications, and interaction with cognizant engineering to recommend, interpret and execute engineering dispositions for non-standard work. This incumbent is responsible for the shaping of metal parts to close tolerances, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining; knowledge of the working properties of the common materials related to the aircraft/aviation industry, selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience.
