Summary:

In this role, you will perform more specialized and complex purchasing duties involved in the procurement of large equipment, materials, supplies and outside services while working to ensure that we have a reliable supply chain of materials and services from external suppliers. You will also support efforts to drive supplier performance improvements, on-time delivery, identify cost savings ideas and inventory reduction initiatives. The ability to problem solve and prioritize competing responsibilities will be essential.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:

  • Inventory Performance
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate between functions for results
  • Create Purchase Orders for Inventory and MRO
  • Dispatch Outside Services
  • Order Acknowledgements
  • Cost Negotiation
  • Manage Orders for On-time Delivery
  • Push out/Pull in Purchase Orders as needed based on demand
  • Expedite Purchase Orders
  • Manage and oversee MRP order policies: min/max/multi, safety stock, lead time, reorder point, order frequency
  • Supplier Management: Maintain Partnership, Qualify new Suppliers, Cost Negotiation, Quality Issues, OTD
  • Request RFQ’s to reflect current costs and lead time
  • Monitor and communicate supply chain forecast changes
  • Manage VMI suppliers
  • Provide work direction and training to other department staff

  • Involvement in supplier change and new product procurement activities
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, catalogs, product literature, and technical manuals.
  • Capability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, and UOM conversions
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Prioritizes competing priorities to achieve goals with available resources
  • Works well individually or within a team
  • Goal oriented, challenging self and others to exceed goals and expectations
  • Background working in a manufacturing environment

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma with 10 years' experience as a Buyer or equivalent
  • Associate's Degree with 7 years' experience as a Buyer or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years' experience as a Buyer or equivalent
  • CPM, CPIM, APICS certification preferred
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing

Some time may be spent in the production facility, where personal protective equipment is required, and can be hot and humid in the summer.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Domestic travel to vendors may be required. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. You may be requested to work overtime and weekends for special occasions, such as inventory counts.
