WP is Hiring a Lead Low Voltage Installation Technician (CORP) Near Houston, TX

Job purpose
As a WPI Lead Installation Technician, you will play a vital role in performing low voltage installations in the Integrated Communications Technologies construction field. You will be responsible for cabling and installation of IP/CCTV cameras, thermal cameras, radars, analytics, monitors, rack equipment, etc...; Access Control Systems; Intrusion Detection Systems; Intercom Systems & Relays. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving project needs.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ability to consistently complete projects within budget, on time and in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Adhere to all required project safety and operational requirements as set forth by WPI and OSHA.
  • Install CAT5e, Cat6, RG6, fiber, and misc. low voltage wiring.
  • Pull, terminate, and test all standard industry cable types.
  • Complete various administrative processes related to service and projects.
  • Continued trade education, training, and personal development.
  • Perform any other duties not specifically stated herein, but which your supervisor may assign.
Qualifications
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Must have at least 5 years of hands-on practical experience.
  • CAT5, 5e, 6, and 6a data cabling including the termination of RJ45 and keystone jacks.
  • Must be certified to operate a manlift.
  • Must have experience installing and setting up IT infrastructure rack.
  • Must have experience installing and deploying CCTV cameras.
  • Must have experience with Fiber optic cabling includes splicing, polishing, and quick connection terminations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong work ethics (promptness, reliability, responsible, moral).
  • Be able to lift minimum of 50lbs climb ladders, crouch, kneel, stoop, push and pull, and repetitive motions.
  • Communicate respectfully and courteously, anticipating customer needs, using best judgement when completing assigned scope.
  • Savvy with technology and driven to understand how things work.
  • Fiber optic cabling includes splicing, polishing, and quick connection terminations.
  • Coax cabling including F and/or BNC connector termination.
  • Server rack and closet buildouts including patch panel termination and network switch setup in MDF/IDF environments.
  • J-hooks, ladder racks, and cable trays.
  • 110 and 66 wiring blocks.
  • Network wireless access points.
  • Digital antenna boosters.
  • Audio systems and SPL meter testing.
  • LED boards and video walls.
  • Smart boards, interactive touch screens, and flat panel displays.
  • High-end projectors.
  • Integrated AV equipment including Cisco, Zoom, Polycom, Digital signage, IPTV, SMART Board, Crestron, AMX, Extron, Kramer, ClearOne, Biamp.
  • Fault finding, onsite diagnostics, and technical checks.
  • Soldering of cables.
  • Teleconferencing center buildouts.
  • Workstation outlets.
  • TIA, EIA, BICSI, or NEC Standards for installation, troubleshooting, service, communication standards, electrical codes, and building codes.
Working Conditions :
  • Typical hours of work Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Weekend hours as necessary.
  • Travel to different sites as needed.
  • Work conditions are both inside and outside.
