Facility Attendant - GRC Job Details Job Location Gymanstics and Recreation Center - Oak Park, IL Position Type Part Time Class 2 Education Level High School Salary Range $14.00 Job Shift Mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends Job Category Non-Union **Job Purpose**

The Gymnastics and Recreation Center Facility Attendant is responsible for assisting with facility operations ensuring the highest level of cleanliness both inside and on the exterior of the facility. This position will provide exceptional customer service to patrons entering the facility and ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

**Essential Functions**

* Greet customers and assist in directing patrons to facility locations when needed.

* Responsible for opening and/or closing the facility.

* Complete frequent inspections of the interior and exterior of the facility confirming safety and cleanliness.

* Address and/or report any safety hazards around the facility.

* Perform basic custodial work around the facility including but not limited to windows, mirrors, garbage pick-up, sweeping, moping, vacuuming and all bathroom duties.

* Keep cleaning equipment neat, organized and stored in proper areas.

* Assist programming staff or customer service staff as needed.

* Complete facility checklists and cleaning checklists.

* Monitor all first aid station supplies and replenish supplies as needed.

* Perform special maintenance tasks as assigned.

* Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program.

* Assist with facility set-up and take down of program spaces, including party room and gym floor

* Wear a PDOP staff identification shirt during all work hours.

**Additional Functions**

* Complete snow removal as needed.

* Assist Manager and other staff as needed.

* Responsible for opening and closing facilities.

* Assist with facility maintenance and up-keep.

* Assist in miscellaneous operational functions as directed

* Request equipment/supplies as needed.

* Attend staff meetings and training programs as specified.

**Knowledge, Skills and Work Experience Required**

* Must be at least 18 years of age.

* Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.

* Have the ability to solve problems as they arise and be able to perform tasks with or without direct supervision

* Be highly motivated and able to assume a positive and active role in the facility.

* Have exceptional customer service skills and the ability to interact with others effectively.

* Able to make decisions to assure safety of the facility.

**Recommended**

* Previous custodial experience

**Work Environment, Physical Demands and Consideration**s

* Frequently Standing, balancing, or walking

* Occasionally - Climbing, stooping, kneeling, or running

* Strength- Work requires handling heavy weight materials or equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance.

* Will be handling chemicals such as cleaning solutions.

* Must wear assigned protective clothing as required as it pertains to the particular job duty including safety goggles, outerwear, or protective hand coverings.

* Will be exposed to occasional inclement weather including heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow ice and wind.

* Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively and to rd and understand printed material.

* Ability to operate assigned equipment.

* Ability to use independent judgment and initiative to solve problems

* Ability to work independently and in a group

* Ability to employ safety awareness and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities

* Ability to communicate effectively in a clear concise manner.
