The Technical Support/Trainer role is responsible for supporting Potter customers in a technical capacity through answering technical service calls and emails and conducting training sessions that enhance our customers’ knowledge of Potter products and systems. This role works closely with the Technical Support Manager to update literature and course materials used in training classes.

Essential Functions

• Provide technical support to all customers of Potter Fire products.
• Respond to customer requests promptly, ensuring professional, clear and concise language is used.
• Revise support bulletins, data sheets, and battery calculator tables as needed.
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to update training materials – course outlines, background material, and training aids.
• Assist with webinars and preparing training videos on installation and programming of Potter’s Life Safety Products.
• Train Potter customers and employees on products and applications (Travel required, approximately 30-40%).
• Assists customers with advanced product applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of technical support and training experience.
• Knowledge of addressable fire alarm systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree is preferred.
• NICET certification is preferred.

This is a full-time position, on-site at the corporate facility. A hybrid work format will be an option after a thorough understanding of the position. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. An occasional shift in hours may be necessary to accommodate business needs.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel

This job operates in a professional business office or home office where standard office equipment is routinely used, such as computers, photocopy machines, fax machines, telephones and filing cabinets.

This position is largely a sedentary role. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Travel is required to train customers in-person, approximately 30-40%.
