We are seeking an Assistant Developer/Designer to join our Product Development team located at our corporate office in North Billerica, Massachusetts. This position will be responsible for supporting the Senior Designer in the development of styles for all of the Potpourri apparel development; assist in researching trends, and assist in setting up trend boards. Responsibility will also include assisting in the creation of specification package with garment illustration, fabric details, construction detail, embellishment details, as well as, gathering all of the information needed to create the garment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with gathering information from trend research magazines, WWD, internet
  • Assist with the design/development of styles, setting up specification packages
  • Assist with design embroidery/print embellishment
  • Send specification packages, art work and samples to vendors
  • Communicate with vendors on a daily basis
  • Work closely with Buyers, Product Manager, and vendors to ensure consistent quality
  • Work with Technical Designer to be proactive on fit concerns during development
  • Prioritize work schedule on a weekly basis with Manager according to season/time and action calendar by style
  • Apprise Manager of any issues or concerns as they arise
  • Learn other areas of Technical Design to assist as needed (when time permits)
  • Other tasks as assigned

Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent design and communication skills; good technical knowledge, including fabrication and technical design-related initiatives and solutions.
  • Understanding of or ability to learn and assist in designing and developing sportswear, dresses, outerwear, denim/garment washed garments, loungewear, sleepwear, period pieces and accessories.
  • Understanding of or ability to learn and assist with trend research.
  • Skilled in or ability to learn to design/draw embroidery and print embellishments.
  • Understanding of and/or ability to learn apparel construction techniques and terminology.
  • Proficient in Corel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent education and experience is required; a Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university is preferred.
  • Preference is 6 months relevant apparel industry work experience
