Potential's Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will assist the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in providing a variety of services to assist the SLP in managing caseloads. The SLPA works in conjunction with the assigned SLP(s) to execute components of a speech-language program as specified in treatment plans developed by the SLP.

The SLPA will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team of teachers, behavior analysts, occupational therapists, and physical therapists serving school students of all ages. You will work school hours (between 8 am - 4 pm) 3 days per week following our extended school year (ESY) calendar. This is a part-time role (approximately 24 hours per week) with room to grow to full-time work.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP
  • Assist in implementing the following as planned and designed by a SLP:
    • The screening of speech, language, or hearing
    • The recording, charting, graphing, or otherwise displaying of data that reflects the performance of a person serviced
    • The maintaining of clinical records
    • The reporting of changes in the performance of a person served to the licensee who is responsible for that person
    • The preparation of clinical materials
    • Participating with the licensee in research projects, in-service training, public-relations programs, and similar activities
  • Familiarity with AAC operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology and a license to practice in Pennsylvania
    • NOT required to have ASHA CCC
  • Builds excellent rapport with clients, co-workers, and parents easily on a daily basis
  • Ability to create professional relationships with clients
  • Strong listening, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate interdisciplinary communication within an active, collaborative work environment
  • Ability to take initiative and act effectively in various circumstances without immediate direction
  • Self-confidence/perseverance/strong work ethic - remain positive and maintain progress toward a goal in spite of obstacles and adversity
  • Trustworthiness, dependability, and demonstrated ethical behavior
  • Ability to organize and act on several activities concurrently
