The Certified Medical Assistant for psychiatry provides information, services, and assistance for all psychiatry services. Staff supported by this position include psychiatrists and Advanced Practice Nurse.

Requirements

Duties include:

• Operates as the coordinator of psychiatric services by providing administrative and clinical support for the psychiatric medical assistants, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners for each site 

• Serves as the primary point-of-contact between the PIHC pharmacy and psychiatry-related services

• Performs administrative duties such as ensuring eligibility for psychiatric services and medications are up-to-date prior to appointments, responding to patient inquiries regarding psychiatric services, scheduling and placing reminder phone calls for appointments, completing consents for services, and processing medication pre-authorization with patients’ insurance 

• Performs clinical duties such as administering injectable medications prescribed by the psychiatric medical providers, taking vital signs prior to psychiatric treatment, and preparing blood and/or urine samples for testing and analysis

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Medical Assistant Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer 1 year experience in Behavioral Health setting
