Job Description:
Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic Lower School World Language Teacher for both Spanish and French who is driven to create a classroom environment where student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion is evident on a daily basis. This position will contribute in a variety of ways to school life at Portledge School and report to the Lower School Division Head. Responsibilities include teaching Lower School Spanish and French across grades Pre-K through 5th as well as participate collegially in Lower School Division meetings World Language Department meetings and initiatives, and take an active role in the life of the school community. Proficiency in Spanish and French and the ability to teach both languages is required for this position.

Qualifications:
BA Degree minimum; advanced degree preferred in relevant area(s)
Highly qualified in teaching reading and writing, grades K-5
International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program experience preferred
Teaching certification required for all elementary teaching positions
Familiarity with technologies necessary for teaching in an online environment
Google competencies - Familiarity with and ability to use Google docs, drive and slides as both a professional collaboration tool and an integrated instructional tool in the classroom
Superb written and oral communication as well as organizational and time management skills
Belief in the value of all types of diversity within a school
A commitment to the qualities embodied by the Portledge pillars: Kindness, Purpose, Honor, Respect
Desire to nurture the whole child and to support students by attending all school events such as art, music, theater, athletics and community functions
Committed to teaching and nurturing social-emotional learning of children

Compensation Range:
$60,000 - $70,000 annually
