Portland Smile Design is Hiring a Dental / Oral Surgery Assistant Near Portland, OR

Job Overview:

Our office has been in NE Portland for 20 years and we have a wonderful team. We are seeking to add a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant. You will play a vital role in assisting the dentist during patient procedures and providing excellent patient care. We are a two doctor practice and are looking for an assistant with surgical experience but will train the right person. Front desk basics and treatment plan presentation experience are also a plus. EFDA is also preferred. Compensation is based on experience.

Responsibilities:

- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including patient assessment, instrument passing, and suctioning
- Take and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays) as directed by the dentist
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient
- Provide post-operative instructions to patients following dental procedures
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed at all times
- Schedule patient appointments and manage flow of appointments
- Assist with front office duties such as answering phone calls, presenting treatment, and verifying insurance information

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- An above and beyond attitude
