Elementary Art Educator (Part Time TBD) - Longfellow ElementaryPart-time Art Educator for a one year only position
Join our team! Longfellow is seeking a dynamic and innovative Art Educator responsible for suppporting the creation of artistic instruction and nurturing a culture of Art.The successful candidate will work with team to integrate art and teach grades Pk- 5. While this is a one year only position, it is a great opportunity to get to know a community-oriented school. The FTE to be determined in coming weeks. The candidate will support students, in collaboration with teachers, to increase student achievement and engagement.

At Longfellow, we work together collaboratively to ensure all students feel a sense of belonging and that all students are engaged in grade level learning every day. Every morning, every classroom begins their day in a circle, running a morning meeting focused on belonging and building social emotional skills. We are committed to teaching explicit and systematic foundational literacy skills in all K-2 classrooms, and are adopting a high quality literacy curriculum in all classrooms next year. We use Illustrative Mathematics as our math curriculum and student inquiry and engagement is important to our philosophy of teaching and learning. As a school community, we are committed to implementing PBIS practices, anti-racism practices, and including restorative practices. We ask our staff to reflect on their own identities and biases and engage in conversations about race and equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
  • Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and identities
  • Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
