Job Summary
The Security Equipment Operations Specialist will be responsible for security equipment such as badge readers, video management systems (dvr), bosch panels, alarms systems, fence fiber, and Lenel/Milestone programming across our sites, being aware of the CIP regulations required by NERC/FERC and the security necessary to protect these sites. The Security Equipment Operations Specialist will install certificates for all of our security devices on an annual basis, conduct annual inspections at sites assigned to them, and assist in being a subject matter expert on capital jobs where there is a security scope at substation rebuilds or new substation construction.
We're hiring for a position open to both Security Equipment Operations Specialist and Senior Security Equipment Operations Specialist candidates. The level will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills during the interview process.

Solves complex problems and takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects.
Key Responsibilities
Security Equipment Operations Specialist:
  • Administer Security Management System May participate in developing strategies, policies, practices, processes and standards for the Security Management System; determines if the system (access controls, intrusion alarms and video surveillance) is compliant with regulatory requirements and industry best practices; participates in providing and revoking physical access controls to work areas based on corporate security and business unit needs; documents, analyzes and reports on personnel access rights and enforcement of policies for physical security access controls as assigned; serves as a resource on the Security Management System providing technical information and problem solving to end users on security and access issues.
  • Security Installation and Upgrade Projects Collaborates on projects to install and upgrade security systems; participates in assessing business needs and determining if new security products or upgrades are needed or viable; assists in planning projects and conducting reviews for progress and to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Regulatory Compliance Reviews Participates in periodic compliance reviews, certifications and audits related to FERC/NERC/WECC Reliability and CIP Standards; recommends procedures, business practices and protocols to enhance compliance with FERC regulations while balancing the employee occupational needs.
  • Conduct Site Visits Participates in site visits (planned as well as random, unannounced) to inspect security systems; ensures the systems are operational and confirms that agreed-upon policy and operating procedures are being followed.
  • Investigations May respond to security-related incidents and participate in investigating and evaluating incidents; may identify and recommend changes or corrective action to prevent future incidents.
  • Research As assigned, research regulatory changes in physical security requirements and emerging industry trends and best practices applicable to physical security access controls; recommends process changes and supports implementation efforts.
  • Technical Oversight and Training Participates in training security contractors and delegated PGE personnel on the operation of the Security Management System.
Senior Security Equipment Operations Specialist:
  • Administer Security Management System May develop or lead others in developing strategy, policies, practices, processes and standards for the Security Management System; ensures the system (access controls, intrusion alarms and video surveillance) is compliant with regulatory requirements and industry best practices; leads and/or coordinates providing and revoking physical access controls to work areas based on corporate security and business unit needs; documents, analyzes and reports on personnel access rights and enforcement of policies for physical security access controls; serves as subject matter expert on the Security Management System providing expertise and problem solving to end users on security and access issues.
  • Security Installation and Upgrade Projects Manages and oversees projects to install and upgrade security systems; assesses business needs and determines if new security products or upgrades are needed or viable; plans projects, including scope, resources and scheduling; conducts reviews for progress and to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Regulatory Compliance Reviews Completes periodic compliance reviews, certifications and audits related to FERC/NERC/WECC Reliability and CIP Standards; develops and implements procedures, business practices and protocols to enhance compliance with FERC regulations while balancing the employee occupational needs.

  • Research Researches regulatory changes in physical security requirements and emerging industry trends and best practices applicable to physical security access controls; adapts processes and procedures to align with best practices; leads implementation efforts.
  • Technical Oversight and Training Oversees and trains security contractors and delegated PGE personnel on the operation of the Security Management System to ensure effective and efficient operations in accordance with departmental objectives.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Security Equipment Operations Specialist - Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, law enforcement, IT or other related field or equivalent experience.
  • Senior Security Equipment Operations Specialist - Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, law enforcement, IT or other related field or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Security Equipment Operations Specialist -Typically five or more years in security, regulatory compliance or in a related field.
  • Senior Security Equipment Operations Specialist - Typically eight or more years in security, regulatory compliance or in a related field.
Valid Driver’s License Required.

Compensation Range:
$87,225.00 - $173,875.00
