Portland Community College is Hiring an Instructor, Computer Information Systems - Cybersecurity Near Portland, OR

Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of cybersecurity professionals? The Science, Computing and Engineering Pathway at Portland Community College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Computer Information Systems Instructor with expertise in Cybersecurity. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a pivotal role in equipping students with the skills and insights needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.
Position is scheduled to start January 2025 at the start of PCC's Winter Term.

This instructor will prepare PCC's students for jobs at the cutting edge of technology through: the development of our CIS program, curriculum development, course instruction, and partnerships with local industry for internships and advisory boards, as well as other tasks as assigned. The position represents an outstanding opportunity to bring your expertise to lead and grow this vital academic program and to work closely with and mentor students. The work will draw on your ability to connect students with the latest advances in Cybersecurity and to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Has a passion for and/or recent experience with college-level teaching or adult training and strives for lifelong learning

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or STEM-related bachelor’s degree AN

Related Instruction

CIS 120, 121 and 122 include embedded Related Instruction in Computation. In order to teach these courses, instructor must have completed college-level algebra or higher Math.

Starting Salary Expectations
Initial Salary Placement will be between Step 1 ($68,436) and Step 3 ($72,600) based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs.

PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.

Please note that Portland Community College is not currently able to provide visa (e.g. H1-B Visa) sponsorship for potential employees.

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
