This is a temporary position, currently funded by a grant through Spring Term of 2026.
The division for Student Belonging & Wellbeing at Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking a full time Counselor/Mental Health Evaluator who will report to the Director of Counseling Services & Student Wellness. The Director of Counseling is responsible for the oversight and development of the college’s Counseling Center and a new body of work to develop more intentional and proactive student connections to college and community resources, including basic needs resources. The Counseling Center supports PCC’s diverse student populations through direct service, mental health prevention and intervention programming, responsive and crisis services, psychoeducation, and advocacy with an anti-racist and social justice lens. Our teams work with the many intersecting marginalized identities of our student communities to provide support and resources for a successful collegiate career at PCC and beyond. This center’s services are essential to the college's effort to advance educational equity, create an inclusive and psychologically sound campus climate, and promote strong student engagement.
This full time temporary Counselor position involves providing mental health and psychosocial assessments, conducting preliminary evaluations for ADHD and eating disorders/disordered eating, substance and process addiction assessments and ASAM placement, and community outreach and education. This position involves making referrals to and recommendations about specific community-based services based on expressed goals and needs.
PCC counselors guide students in meeting their respective educational, personal, social and vocational goals, using judgment consistent with standards of the licensing boards and state and federal guidelines, and based upon adequate knowledge of counseling practices, methods, techniques, interpersonal relationships and community resources. Counselors provide prevention, outreach and intervention services, and participate in committees and/or college service.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Master's degree (or higher) in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or related area required. Degree must be from an accredited institution.
One year of experience providing academic, personal and/or career counseling. Practicum and Internship(s) experience may be counted.
Active, unrestricted professional practice license or ability to register as a professional associate prior to employment start date.

PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
