The Legal Intern role offers significant opportunities to actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the Portillo’s Law Department. This includes reviewing and revising simple contracts, supporting pending litigation matters, conducting legal research and drafting legal memos, and reviewing and updating company policies, among other tasks. This is a collaborative role that will work with Law Department Team Members and cross-functionally with other departments.

This paid internship will last ten weeks and will require you to spend time in our Oak Brook office, approximately 4 days per week.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Pursuing a Juris Doctor – rising 3L
• Excellent reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Capacity to build rapport and establish effective working relationships with team members and other Portillo’s stakeholders
  • Solid technology skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support to the Law Department on as as-needed basis.
• Assist in reviewing and revising contracts, corporate governance documents, and real estate materials.
• Conduct legal research regarding various matters and draft legal memoranda summarizing key findings.
• Work on ad hoc projects as needed, such as assisting with legislation updates and litigation discovery.
