Position: Teacher - English Language Arts__Portales High School

Position begins with the 2024-2025 School Year

Licensure Qualifications:

Secondary License with ELA endorsement

OR

Pre-K - 12 Specialty Area License, ELA endorsement

(TESOL desirable but not required)

Desire and ability to coach Basketball, Baseball, Soccer or Cheer Desirable

The English Language Arts teacher creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Accurately demonstrate knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.
• Communicates with and obtains feedback from students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding.
• Manage the educational setting in a manner that promotes student behavior and a safe and healthy environment.
• Recognize student diversity and creates an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self concept.
• Support the value of an education.
• Participate in curriculum study and revision.
• Respond to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
• Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students, with appropriate instruction.
• Communicate effectively with other Portales Municipal Schools, staff, parents, and students.
• Work effectively with community organizations.
• Demonstration of teacher competencies for annual evaluation, licensure advancement or renewal.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
• Demonstrate ethical behavior.
• Engage in self-development.
• Respond to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Support the philosophy and mission of the Portales Municipal Schools.
