The Classroom Teacher creates a positive learning environment to facilitate students' personal, social, and intellectual development.

1. Accurately demonstrate knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.
2. Communicates with and obtains feedback from students, enhancing student learning and understanding.
3. Manage the educational setting in a manner that promotes student behavior and a safe and healthy environment.
4. Recognize student diversity and create an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self-concept.
5. Support the value of an education.
6. Participate in curriculum study and revision.
7. Respond to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
8. Facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
9. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to students' individual needs, with appropriate instruction.
10. Communicate effectively with other Portales Municipal Schools, staff, parents, and students.
11. Work effectively with community organizations.
12. Demonstration of teacher competencies for annual evaluation, licensure advancement or renewal.
13. Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
