Port View Resources is Hiring an Industrial Electrician Foreman Supervisor Near Virginia, VA

Electrical Department Supervisor

Our client - a Virginia Beach based manufacturing company, is looking for a supervisor of their electrical department to join their growing team.

Duties and tasks: 

  • Plan, schedule, assign, supervise and participate in the installation of the electrical systems for all projects.

  • Ensure adherence to NEC code.

  • Application and knowledge of master electrician level skills in the installation of electrical systems and associated activities which may include the application of some mechanical knowledge.

  • Assign work to the team determining work methods and priorities. 

  • Supervise and evaluate personnel fairly and adequately for performance, attendance, and overall professionalism.

  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to assigned employees on the safe operation of equipment and tools and proper work techniques and skills necessary to complete work assignments. 

  • Perform related work as assigned or specified in project drawings, customer specification or project requirement. 

  • Order material according to project specification.

  • Assist in the development of Quality Control and Assurance pertaining to electrical systems through various means.

Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge of the approved methods, material, tools and equipment utilized in electrical installation and maintenance work. 

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and distribution systems.

  • Considerable knowledge of City, State and National electrical codes. 

  • Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and the proper safety precautions required of the work. 

  • Some knowledge of mechanical systems.

  • Some knowledge of first aid, including CPR. 

  • Knowledge of the use of power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, knock punches and any tools associated with the electrical industry.

  • Ability to Operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools and any other tools associated with the electrical industry 

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams. 

  • Ability to estimate manpower, time and material requirements for work assignments. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees as necessitated by the work. Ability to prepare and monitor accurate reports and records.

  • Ability to and knowledge pertaining to operating and working from mechanical personnel lifts electric or gas powered.

  • Ability to bend Conduits using hand benders, mechanical benders or hydraulic benders

Experience Requirements: 

  • Considerable progressive experience in electrical maintenance and repair.

  •  Some experience diagnosing mechanical problems involving air-conditioning or refrigeration equipment, manufacturing equipment and tools.

  • Commercial electrical experience 

  • Ability to bend conduit.
