This internship will assist the Port’s Grants and Contracts teams in the life cycle of grants here at the Port. Responsibilities include reviewing, proofreading, and providing feedback on grant applications and related materials, researching, and comparing funding opportunities, and supporting the Grants Specialist in preparing materials (e.g. PowerPoint slides) for grant-related meetings. The intern will support pre-award activities with general administrative work and by helping maintain and offer suggestions for streamlining the Grants Team SharePoint library.
The Grants intern will also assist in post award activities such as reviewing terms and conditions for awarded grants, working with Grants Administrator and Contracts team on grant-compliant procurement activities, grant budget and match compliance, as well as the creation and maintenance of a PowerBI Grants Dashboard.
This internship is expected to start on or around June 1st and last for up to 3 months.
Work hours will offer some flexibility but will generally be Monday-Friday, 20 hours a week between 8 am and 5 pm.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college, university or enrolled in an accredited graduate school. Coursework and interest in grants, IT, business administration, finance or accounting, pre-law, environmental studies, and related fields is preferred.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Strong oral and written communication skills and comfort with numbers and quantitative reasoning are necessary. Some experience with Microsoft's PowerBI business analytics service is preferred. This position requires a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with supervision from a variety of subject matter experts.
All individuals offered an internship must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Proof will be required prior to starting. A valid driver's license is preferred.
