The Accessibility Advisory Committee’s mission is to educate, advise and assist the Port Commission in ensuring that all public and private services, programs, facilities, and employment be fully usable by and accessible to all persons, with or without disabilities, as defined by the American’s with Disabilities Act.
Committeemembersmust be a resident of the County of San Diego. Committee membership may be made up of members with a disability or without,but with a two-thirds majority of members who have a disability as defined by the ADA desired.
Members shall carry out their duties in a prudent, good faith manner and in the best interest of the committee’s mission. Members must also consider and support the purpose and goals of the organization.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee meets for about two hours approximately 4-6 times a year and primarily:
Providesfeedback on District and tenant development projects as it relates to access, ADA compliance and encouragement of universal design
Provides guidance on Port services programs, and facilities to maximize accessibility, universal design, diversity, equity, and inclusion
Serves as avaluable stakeholder to enhance accessibility and universal design efforts
Reviewsand appraisesthe effortsof theDistrict's comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion programs
Letters of interest and resume will be accepted continuously to fill any vacancies and for appointments made on an annual basis by the incoming Chair of the Board of Port Commissioners.
