Port of Morrow is Hiring a STEAM Education Advisor Near Boardman, OR

General Position Summary:

The role of the STEAM Education Advisor involves crafting, refining, and executing educational initiatives tailored for school visits and summer STEAM camps. This includes actively engaging in local and regional educational events hosted by schools.

Essential Functions/major responsibilities:

· Schedule, plan, organize, and lead educational school visits and summer STEAM camps.

· Oversee school visit program that includes tours of facility, welcome presentation, grade-level worksheet packets, staff/volunteer engagement plan, teacher feedback form, and thank you cards.

· Establish learning outcomes for SAGE Center School Visit Program and work to ensure they are achieved.

· Establish professional contacts and actively develop relationships with educators to promote the SAGE Center and school resources. 

· Set school year goals and review with the SAGE Center management at the end of the school year.

· Work closely with all staff to plan and prepare for educational events and school visit group tours.

· Organize and manage “Kids Corner” for the annual Morrow County Harvest Festival.

Secondary Functions:

· Cultivate collaborations to broaden outreach initiatives for youth

· Serve as the ambassador of the SAGE Center at various local and regional school gatherings such as the Morrow County Children’s Fair and/or Oregon State FFA Convention

· Coordinate and engage in Morrow County School District STEAM Friday’s by orchestrating STEAM-Centered activities.

Specific Job Skills:

· Enjoy working with school-aged children.

· Demonstrate enthusiasm and desire to serve SAGE Center visitors with excellent customer service.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SAGE Center staff, volunteers, and the public.

· Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

· Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office programs, Canva, and JotForm’s.

· Ability to lead between 20-25 students in a classroom like setting

· Must be able to speak publicly.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

· Will be required to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Skills:

· Strong attendance and work ethic background

· Team player with an outgoing customer service-oriented personality

· Strong verbal and written communication

· Experience working in a school/camp setting

· Leading activity instruction

· Experience working with youth and STEAM education

Job Conditions:

· This role primarily entails indoor activities with prolonged periods of sitting

· Occasional lifting of light boxes may be necessary, but the requirement is minimal

· While the majority of task are conducted indoors, there may be occasional instances where working outdoors is required, albeit infrequently
