Port of Longview is Hiring an Environmental Technician I Near Longview, WA

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position is responsible for, including but not limited to, the day-to-day regulatory and permit compliance of the port’s industrial wastewater, stormwater, air emissions, and hazardous waste. This includes conducting sampling, site inspections, documenting issues and implementing best management practices. This position will also conduct air emissions opacity readings when necessary and assist with the Port’s spill prevention, control, and countermeasure plan. This position must effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with other port employees to ensure compliance in all permit areas.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of math, chemistry, and mechanics.Ability to understand and implement processing and handling of industrial wastewater.Ability to understand and implement f handling, documenting, storing, designating, and transporting of hazardous waste.Ability to understand and interpret Washington State Hazardous Waste Regulations.Ability to understand , interpret, and implement Washington State Industrial Stormwater Regulations and stormwater best management practices.Working knowledge and experience in water quality and sampling protocols for stormwater and wastewater.Ability to understand and implement permit requirements and compliance actions for stormwater, wastewater, and air permits.Ability to understand and implement requirements and compliance actions for hazardous waste regulations and SPCC plan.Ability to analyze and interpret data.Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to accurately document activities and processes.Effective communication, problem solving and working as a team player.Prioritizing and organizing numerous tasks and completing them under time constraints.Capacity to balance both short- and long-term issues effectively and handle many simultaneous and often conflicting and changing priorities.Think independently and take initiative.Advanced Excel and Word skills.
