Port of Corpus Christi is Hiring a Project Manager Near Corpus Christi, TX

Job Summary

Hiring Range: $86,361.60 - $113,830.08/Year. It is anticipated the hiring rate offered will be /- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.
Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to join our team! This position will be to support capital and maintenance projects by providing project management and oversite, in addition to handling special projects for the Operations Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as project manager for assigned projects from design through construction
  • Prepare designs, specifications, estimates, and bid and construction documents
  • Act as liaison between Maintenance and Operations Engineering (Ops Eng) teams, by maintaining a list of Ops Eng projects being executed by Maintenance team, holding daily coordinating meetings, getting updates, and providing project oversite
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise projects completed by in-house crews
  • Perform site visits for project scoping, bidding, construction inspections, etc.
  • Coordinate with consultants on assigned projects, including development of scope and contract, overall project management, tracking and reviewing deliverables, and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates
  • Communicate with contractors to coordinate projects, including to describe project scopes, address contractor questions, schedule improvements, request quotes/pricing, negotiate change orders, etc.
  • Administers construction contracts with contractors, large and small
  • Lead pre-bid and pre-construction meetings
  • Coordinate with various PCCA staff and departments for project scoping, coordination, estimates, and execution to achieve goals and support PCCA initiatives and plans
  • Prepare correspondence, presentations, and other documents for Commission, staff, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Collect data, conduct assessments, analyze findings and make recommendations
  • Assist with development of the annual Operations capital and maintenance budget
  • Review and validate consultant and contractor invoices
  • Controls project scope, schedule and costs with consultants, contractors and staff
  • Assists with initiating, monitoring or performing tasks associated with the goals and objectives of the PCCA's Strategic Plan
  • Maintains records and reports as required
  • Follows PCCA security, environmental, and safety requirements and procedures, and sees that they are properly implemented and maintained on assigned projects
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Adhere to Port policies
  • CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Tier 2 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be detailed-oriented, have proven communication skills, work well with others as well as independently, be a creative problem-solver, and have a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA Operations. They must possess the following:
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, ocean, structural preferred, industrial, mechanical or other considered) from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
  • Valid driver’s license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
  • Prior knowledge of Port facilities, including buildings, equipment, and infrastructure such as docks, rail, and roads
  • Engineering experience related to civil sitework and engineering techniques/theories
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction and inspection terminology preferred
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal codes and requirements preferred
  • Effective business communication skills
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • AutoCAD, ArcGIS and other design application software preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and other related applications
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
  • Ability to write and create reports/presentations and give formal presentations

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment. May be exposed to elements when visiting worksites
  • Ability to work in a general office environment and operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles to complete assigned tasks safely
  • Work the required hours to fulfill position objectives and meet deadlines, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
