Position Overview:

Analyzes user reported system and data issues, documents reproducible examples, finds root causes and escalates and/or assists in resolving software operational problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with distribution system users to get details of issues, attempts to reproduce and isolate errors, and escalates issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assists in writing detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to perform various system functions.
  • Works with vendors, Application Administrators or Software Analysts to plan, develop, test, and document computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems.
  • Ensures service level agreements with vendors are documented, measured, and reported by proactively managing and tracking the open "glitch" list.
  • Interacts with hardware, UNIX, network, and other IT support staff to research problems and find solutions.
  • Assists in researching new technologies and recommends and/or applies these to solve business problems.
  • Participates in after hours on-call support and outage restoration activities.
  • Participates in planned/scheduled after hours software testing and/or upgrades.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/ Experience Expected:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or proven and progressive success in Information Technology or software support responsibilities.
  • Minimum 2 years operation knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system functionality, including Sales Order Entry, Inventorying, Purchasing, Distribution, Financial, Accounting, etc.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX (AIX), NT and Windows, data networking, Unidata Query, Basic, System Builder 4GL software, SB Report Writer and programming techniques.
  • Ability to help lead and coordinate projects and functions.
  • Demonstrates professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good personal organizational skills.
  • Ability to absorb and implement new technologies.
