The Details of the Position

Title: Food Runner

Job Type: Part-Time/ Variable hour

Work location: Poogan’s Porch

Responsibilities (include the following and other responsibilities that may be assigned as needed):

● Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables rapidly and accurately

● Act as a liaison between Front-of -House and Back-of -House staff

● Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (ex: food allergies)

● Assist wait staff with table setting by retrieving and placing tableware, eating utensils, and napkins

● Serve welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres upon guests’ arrival

● Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (ex: proper temperature)

● Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water

● Remove dirty dishes and utensils from the table

● Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items

● Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (ex: when they ask for the check)

● Ensure families with young children receive kids menus and special silverware sets

● Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer any suggestions for improvement

What You Bring to the Table

Your experience: 1 year of restaurant experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate

Your education level: High school diploma or equivalent

Your abilities, skills, and traits:

● Demonstrate excellent customer service skills

● Demonstrate knowledge of hygiene and food safety rules

● Possess an ability to multi-task

● Utilize oral communication skills

● Work well under pressure and maintain fast, efficient service

● Exhibit a positive and friendly demeanor to guests and team members

● Be dependable and punctual

● Be able to stand for duration of shift, climb stairs, and lift and move heavy items

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $7.25 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
