Middle School Assistant Principal
Reports to: Site Principal
Supervises: School Site Employees
Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate
Valid Oklahoma Administrator’s Certificate
Master’s Degree
Job Goal: Assist the site principal to provide leadership for all building level education services and programs.
Employment Terms: 10 month
Generally, 8.0 Hour Day, Exclusive of a 30 Minute Lunch
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Evaluation: Annually by Site Principal

Occasional Requirements: Walk, reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 25 pounds
Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Rotations for Senior High supervising night time activities.
Assists the primary administrative officer for the school site.
- Assists the lead principal to provide leadership in development and evaluation of short-term and long-term goals for the school including student growth and learning, building needs, staffing, and finances.
- Assists the lead principal to provide oversight of personnel, including recruitment, selection, assignment, orientation/professional development and discipline as provided by law and board policy.
- Assists the lead principal to establish and maintain a respectful and effective learning climate which complies with all local, state and federal laws and board policies. Ensure that school activities also follow all laws and policies.
- Maintains a visible and professional relationship with students, parents, patrons and staff and attends special events such as award ceremonies, conferences, contests and activities.
- Collaborates with lead principal to develop annual class schedules designed to maximize learning and meet the needs of students.
- Collaborates with lead principal to evaluate curriculum and provide proposals for improvement as indicated.
- Assists with overseeing the maintenance of accurate student records, including attendance, progress and discipline.
- Assists with overseeing regular emergency preparedness planning and drills.
- Assists the lead principal with preparing and submitting required reports to the district central office.
- Assists the lead principal with reviewing and submitting necessary forms to the payroll clerk to ensure prompt and accurate payment to all assigned employees.
- Attends and participates in meetings and conferences for the benefit of the district.
- Regularly participates in appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Utilizes professional behavior in all school related interactions.
- Complies with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
- Serves as administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal.
- Assists with staff evaluation.
- Supervises extra-curricular activities.
- Supervises staff attendance and assignment of substitute teachers.
- Assists with scheduling special events during the school day.
- Assists with coordinating the development of the master teaching schedule.
- Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
