Job Summary

As nurses of Pomerene Hospital it is our responsibility to support the mission and role of Pomerene Hospital within the organization and out in the community at all times. The Patient Care Specialist (PCS) will serve as a leader and clinical expert for the Unit under the direction of the Unit Manager and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, timely, effective, quality, evidence based holistic care while observing age and cultural appropriateness, utilizing the nursing process and being cost conscious. The Patient Care Specialist assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises patient care on an individualized basis, according to organizational policies and procedures. The PCS will provide clinical leadership for patient care within the Unit.

Esesential Functions

• Moves throughout the facility as needed, appropriately assists in emergency drills and situations, and demonstrates the physical, clinical, and professional capacity to provide direct patient care as described in the tasks and duties of this position.
• Coordinates patient care as assigned, which includes assessing and interpreting patient care information and data.
• Effectively leads staff and supports patient care on the Unit under the direction of the Unit Manager.
• Responsible for staff education within the Unit.
• Provides appropriate patient, staff and family communication.
• Works cooperatively with Unit staff, physicians and ancillary departments.
• Maintains high standards for the professional nursing practice.
• Performs all tasks and duties of this position according to hospital and department policy and procedure.

Education

Associates Degree in Nursing- Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing -Preferred

Experience

3-5 Years of Healthcare/Medical RN Nurse Experience Required

Certificates & Licensures

State of Ohio RN Licensure- Required

BCLS certification- May be obtained during orientation period.

PEARS certification- May be obtained during first year of employment.
