Description
Polytek® is a leading manufacturer of mold making materials. We are currently looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and extremely organized Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant will collaborate with other accountants and financial staff in the company to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
· Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs
· Coordinate month-end reporting including inventory valuation, account reconciliations, preparation of general ledger entries and accruals
· Analyzing costs of goods sold and average costing
· Develop, analyze and monitor manufacturing overhead rates and track cost absorption and update rates as needed
· Anyalze plant data and advise management on areas of inefficiencies
· Implement and improve internal accounting controls, safeguards and monitor reports for breaches
· Ensure the integrity of the batch ticket process (creation, closing and costing). Review and track data to ensure accuracy of costs.
· Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis
· Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
· Performing account reconciliations
· Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management
· Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
· Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data
· Provide ad-hoc support to plant managers, Controller and Operations as required
· Provide reporting and guidance on the Key Business Metrics used to evaluate performance
· Performs other duties as assigned

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Talk, hear and vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
· Ability to travel up to 30%
Required Education and Experience:
· BS/BA in Accounting or Business related degree with 5 years of work experience,
· CPA/CMA or MBA preferred
· Highly ethical, trustworthy and maintain confidentiality
· Proficient in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
· Proficient knowledge of an ERP system and report writing experience.
· Self-motivated and able to execute independently with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include occasional evenings.
· Ability to develop and implement process improvements.
· Great attention to detail, organized and team oriented with a willingness to learn.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, hand-on environment.
