Polymer Laboratories & Solutions, LLC is Hiring a QA/QC Specialist Near Lewiston, ME

Poly Labs in Lewiston, Maine is seeking to hire a QC/QA Specialist to join our rapidly growing quality assurance team!

Poly Labs is a 100% US based leader in producing highly engineered molded, self-skinning and small pour polyurethane components supporting defense, medical, footwear, and impact protection applications.

What are general responsibilities of a QC/QA Specialist at Poly Labs?

The QC/QA Specialist will be responsible for performing work in process (WIP) and part incoming quality control (QC) inspections as needed. Supports quality management system processes such as NCR, ECO, and CAPA management. Serves as backup for all QA and QC delivered services and responsibilities. This position works closely with other members of our quality team.

Typical hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 6:00am to 4:30pm, with opportunities for overtime when available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews, files, and maintains process and product quality records; follows good documentation practice (GDP).
  • Performs characteristic and visual inspections on WIP to determine if in spec., as needed.
  • Is a backup for QC WIP Rounds testing and Incoming Inspection using gages, fixtures or supporting equipment.
  • Performs CD Test buddy checks, monthly inventory counts and supports ISO 9001 activities.
  • Support dispositioning product as required by specification, minimizes risk of escapes to the customer
  • Prepares shipping data and Certificates of Conformance (CoC); reviews process / QC data to ensure in spec.
  • Makes pass/fail quality decisions based on specifications, procedures, and standards.
  • Communicates inspection results to Leads so they can direct the operator to make process adjustments.
  • Is a backup for Instron final product CD and VN 740 CD hardness testing and any other metrology related testing.
  • Conducts spectrophotometer color testing, hardness and other metrology based testing.
  • Trains QC Techs and others on QC activities, updates Training Manager
  • Ensures that product defect standards / spec.’s are available to machine operators and QC personnel..
  • Quarantines non-conforming product and material; implements out of control action plans (OCAP).
  • Initiates Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), updates NCR log; Supports Material Review Board meetings.
  • Supports and promotes continuous improvement initiatives to meet business objectives.

TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage records, document controls, and change controls.
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment, Quality Inspection Certificate a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • 2-3 years of related experience; experience in manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) methods a plus.
  • Familiar with visual inspection with or without a microscope or other magnification devices.
  • Experience working in a product development environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel; EPDM, ERP
  • Internal auditing experience a plus.

Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Supervisory Responsibility:
No supervisory responsibility.

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office and manufacturing environment.

Physical Surrounding:
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier/scanner and filing cabinets. PPE is required in manufacturing areas.

Physical Effort:
While performing duties of the job, employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; use eyesight to inspect products with or without magnification.

Travel:
Infrequent travel may be required.
