POLITICO is looking for a reporter to join our esteemed California Playbook team and helm the afternoon newsletter — a must-read for tracking state power, politics and policy. This is an opportunity to drive the political conversation from Los Angeles to Sacramento and beyond in the newsletter and through POLITICO’s other platforms including homepage stories and live events. You will become part of a growing, collaborative team whose report is widely read in the state and across the nation.
The ideal candidate is a quick, resourceful reporter who can spot the bigger political story in a small news development and would enjoy writing for a tuned-in audience about why it all matters. We are seeking a scoop-hound who would make the California Playbook PM a showcase for their original reporting and their colleagues’ work. The newsletter is a lively and engaging read and its new author should be comfortable writing with voice and injecting some analysis into the daily report.

This position requires the reporter to be based in Sacramento, CA.
