Position Title: Summer Youth Employment Site Monitor (Part-time up to 35 hours per week)
Department: Youth Employment
Location: Edward Byrne Center — Police Athletic League, Inc.
Rate of pay: $20 per hour
Hours: 10:00AM-6:00PM

Job Summary: Conduct and prepare written assessments daily/weekly reflecting field observations. Collect, maintain and organize participant time sheets on a weekly basis. Site Monitors must travel from worksite to worksite; via public transportation. Act as a liaison between the worksite and PAL. Communicate with the Program Supervisor (s)daily regarding program participants and worksites. Maintain participant files. Collect evaluations. Monitor participants' performance at worksites. Ensure worksites provide a safe and supportive environment to youth assigned to the site. Report any issues. Distribute and collect all program documents as necessary. Assist with preparation of files for audit. This position requires traveling to the main office in Queens. Attending all related meetings and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Goals and objectives of the Summer Youth Employment Program: To provide a valuable work experience at job sites that are safe and well supervised. To assist youth in identifying their career interests through exposure to different industries, occupations, educational pathways, and the requirements for success in each of them. To enable youth to acquire positive work habits and develop employmentrelated skills.
Skills/Knowledge Required
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to serve as a strong role model, provide guidance to young workers, and mediate conflict as needed.
Flexibility in schedule and some evenings/weekends may be necessary.
Computer literate and competency in MS Word, Excel.
Multi-tasker and exceptional communication skills a must.
Possess strong supervisory, collaborative and organizational skills.
Excellent writing skills required.
Ability to navigate the New York City transportation system.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
Ability to work independently and to work as part of a team.
Bilingual a plus.
