Summary:

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Microwave Products Group - Pole/Zero Corporation in West Chester, OH, you will support the military community by providing technical leadership for the manufacturing of electronic products by working directly with assemblers, technicians, supervisors, managers and other engineers of various disciplines on the SMT product line. This individual will provide day-to-day support of the SMT related electronic assembly activity within the organization and the hardware comprised in those functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve product design changes (ECN's).
  • Analyze requirements flow-down for engineering drawings, part lists, and ECNs.
  • Resolve assembly issues and material issues applicable to material non-conformance disposition (NR & MRB) and detailed repair instructions, "use-as-is" substantiations, etc.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action implementations for returned hardware.
  • Conduct standard labor time analysis. Document the results of and incorporate changes from time studies on product assembly processes.
  • Where applicable conduct process capability studies.
  • Develop and implement product routings.
  • Develop product specific manufacturing instruments.
  • Develop, revise and maintain standard operating work instructions for process specific MRB/standard repair activities and manufacturing instructions by assigned work area. (This process includes an annual review for obsolete instructions.)
  • Work with the assigned quality engineer to create and review standard repair processes and maintain and review current standard repair processes. Design, develop and/or modify tool/fixtures and identify/spec tools needed for manufacturing.
  • Assist in the review and selection of needed equipment purchases.
  • Assist with drawing interpretations.
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities including the assembly and labor reduction efforts.
  • Participate in project management activities.
  • Participate in and lead lean manufacturing activities.
  • Establish and cultivate a network of support (quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing).
  • Be the main liaison between producibility, engineering & manufacturing and be the technical support person for manufacturing, engineering and quality.
  • Complete special projects as needed.

Knowledge, skills and abilities strongly preferred include:

  • Must have a thorough understanding of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
  • Must have knowledge in materials, components and processes applicable to electronics and electronics manufacturing.
  • Must have knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis (min/max/RSS) to solve mechanical issues.
  • Must be familiar with configuration control of manufactured items.
  • Must be able to conduct root cause analysis for problem solving.
  • Must be able to read PWB documentation (Gerber plots) to aid in PWB troubleshooting.
  • Must have the ability to rework/repair minor material defects.
  • Must have the ability to support programming of associated equipment.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with other departments, including manufacturing, engineering and management.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the customer, both in verbal and written formats.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Must be an effective listener.
  • Must be detail oriented and value ownership and accuracy.

Requirements Include:

  • Must be a US person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial (manufacturing), Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • 4 years of multi-discipline electronics manufacturing related work experience required.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuits a plus.
  • ISO9000 and lean manufacturing experience
