Experience

Experience as a food server in a casino environment preferred, but not required. Excellent oral communication and positive interpersonal skills required. Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English. Bi-lingual a plus.

Job Description Overview

The Food Server will be responsible to interact with and provide food and beverage service to all casino guests, both internal and external, and to ensure they have a great experience when dining at the restaurant/snack bar in an efficient, courteous and professional manner while displaying a high standard of guest services. At all times, food servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed by using the FISH Philosophy and Gold Key Standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Responsible for prompt, efficient and courteous food and beverage service to casino guests, both internal and external in accordance with Poker Palace Casino policies, procedures and standards. Performs necessary tasks to service guests, i.e.; taking and filling all food and beverage orders and assisting in maintaining guests gaming area in a clean and neat manner. Monitors guests’ needs on a continual basis ensuring all food and beverage requests will be promptly fulfilled. Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other preparation tasks. Staying updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items…etc. Handle the table bookings, direct customers to their tables, presenting menus, suggesting dishes, assisting in drink selection, informing customers about food preparation details. Communicating specific customer needs to the cooks. Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses. Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. Performs as a team member with all restaurant team members; assists other food and beverage personnel with maintenance (side work, opening/closing duties) as necessary. Ability to add and subtract two digits numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a food server to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the food server is required to speak and hear; Close and distance vision; Identify and distinguish colors; Frequent walking with some standing at times; Will walk for long periods of time, possibly extended distances; Frequently lifts/carries up to 25 lbs; Occasionally lifts/carries up to 50 lbs; Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills; Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly. Must be able to operate beverage cart (containing bottle water, beer, ice) for length of shift.

Work Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team mate encounters while performing the critical tasks of this job. While performing the duties of this job in a casino/hospitality environment. Will work near moving or mechanical parts. May work near toxic/caustic chemicals and with fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The casino environment is usually smoky. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
