Pokagon Band of Potawatomi is Hiring a Gaming Inspector Near New Buffalo, MI

Position Summary: Under the supervision of a Senior Gaming Inspector and general direction of the Chief Gaming Inspector, the Gaming Inspector will ensure enforcement and compliance of the compact between the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and the State of Michigan, Gaming Regulatory Act, the National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards, and the Regulations. The Gaming Inspector will observe the operation of the casino activities including, but not limited to, casino layout, casino games, casino equipment, casino personnel, patrons and other areas of the facility relating to casino operations. The Gaming Inspector will monitor the operation of the casino’s online gaming activity, including Internet Gaming and Internet Sport Wagering.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the creation, evaluation and updating, of various Gaming Commission tasks, procedures, and processes.
  • Check licenses to verify that Four Winds Casino Employees have an “Active” status.
  • Conduct regular, timely, and thorough testing of electronic gaming devices, sports wagering devices, Internet gaming, and other gaming equipment as required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist other departments of the Gaming Commission.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all applicable Commission policies, directives, administrative rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Examine Machine Entry Authorization Logs on a sample basis to ensure entries are made when door is opened.
  • Follow all Task List and Training Guide procedures.
  • Initiate immediate actions to safeguard evidence regarding patron claims against gaming-related equipment or devices.
  • Inspect all electronic gaming devices, tables, equipment, cards, dice, cheques used in the gaming operation to ensure compliance with regulations and policy established by the Gaming Commission and Four Winds Casino.
  • Inspect and verify all shipments containing Controlled Gaming Media.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Commission employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement officers as necessary to conduct and assist in investigations and activities effectively.
  • Maintain working relationship with various Electronic Gaming Device, Internet gaming, and sports wagering vendor technicians.
  • Monitor the storage, issuance and destruction of gaming equipment and sensitive supplies.
  • Observe and inspect casino operations to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of Four Winds Casino personnel responsibilities and maintain professional working relationships with those individuals.
  • Obtain thorough knowledge of the Internal Controls of Four Winds Casino.
  • Perform special inspections as necessary.
  • Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts, using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar in a timely manner.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of work and look for ways to improve work and productivity.
  • Receive and process patron complaints.
  • Remain apprised of current and emerging issues and trends within the gaming industry and Four Winds Casino.
  • Remain apprised of current and emerging issues at Four Winds Casino.
  • Safeguard Tribal assets through observations and inspections.
  • Verify game software integrity through testing of all Controlled Gaming Media shipped to the casino operation.
  • Write compliance and enforcement reports.
  • Write comprehensively; with clearly organized thoughts, using proper sentence constructions, punctuation, and grammar.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment:

  • Computers, hand held radios, EGD Certification software and devices, CCTV equipment, licensing software and scanner, and other job-related equipment.
  • Systems used: Microsoft Office applications, other software and proprietary databases.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • A minimum of 3 months of experience as a Gaming Inspector, Quality Control Inspector, Safety Inspector, or other related work experience is preferred.
  • Associates Degree is required. Two (2) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the Associate’s Degree.
  • Must adhere to the Commission policy prohibiting Commission employees from gambling or playing at Four Winds Casino or any licensed game or gaming device under the jurisdiction of the Pokagon Band Gaming Commission.
  • Must be able to interact with others in an empathetic and professional manner.
  • Must be at least of 21 years of age.
  • Must be willing to promote goals and philosophies of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends.
  • Must be willing to work in any of the Four Winds Casino properties.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to meet the minimum requirements regarding driving record in order to utilize Commission vehicles.
  • Submit to and successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Submit to and successfully pass drug testing as required by the Commission.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Work is generally sedentary in nature and will frequently require sitting. However, standing and walking will occasionally be necessary.

Work environment:

  • General office environment. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. However, duties will require occasional work in a casino environment, which is typically smoky with noise levels above a general office environment.
