PN is Hiring a Phlebotomist and Medical Assistant PT to possible FT Near Los Angeles, CA

Multispecialty office.

Looking for a part time to full time medical assistant for a Medical/surgery practice with location near Beverly Hills by Cedar Sinai Medical Plaza. Would like to start as part time and if we find a good fit we can advance to a permanent position.

Job involves working with new technology in: anti aging and body enhancement including PRP, Stem cell. Treatment areas in Men's health, urology, circumcision, Joint pain injections and possibly cosmetics and general medicine in the future. Urgent care including COVID testing. We work with all ages. May be able to consider per diem candidates also.

Schedule:

  • Currently the job is mostly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Hours are 9 am - 5 pm. Possibly more days are being added soon.
  • Optional some occasional Sundays and some short shifts in the early morning around 7-830 am few times a month if needed but not very common.
  • May at times require off site job duties and local travel for testing or procedures.

  • Multiple specialty including urology and musculoskeletal/pain. Cosmetics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients- Setting up exam rooms for appointments and procedures
  • Cleaning surgical instruments
  • Assist physician during exams and in office procedures as needed
  • Helping with patient phone calls, follow ups, scheduling appointments and filing.
  • Dressing changes as well as performs medical assistant procedures as ordered by the physicians.
  • Performs all Comprehensive Perinatal Health Worker duties as trained.experience with obtaining treatment authorization requests, verification of insurance status, and refilling prescription requests.
  • Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
  • Needs to be comfortable in dealing with male urology procedures for all ages from infants to adults.
  • COVID testing and possible vaccination.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Greet patients.

Manages patient care flow including but not limited to:

  • Room patients
  • Direct patients if ancillary services are ordered
  • Notify physician of patient status
  • Prepare patients for provider by recording current medications in medical record
  • Takes vital signs and record in medical record as directed
  • Assess patient needs and s appropriately sets up exam room or procedure rooms
  • Assist provider during examination/procedure
  • Perform designated diagnostic tests as directed by provider
  • Draw, prepare and properly label designated lab work and/or specimens as directed by provider
  • Administer immunization, injections, or oral medications as ordered by provider
  • Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Answer patient calls in timely fashiona) Monitor voicemail communications from patientsb) Communicate patient questions or concerns to providerc) Follow-up communications to the patient as requested by provider
  • Verify completeness of medical record by reviewing previously ordered studies or documentation, ensures that documents are placed in the appropriate location within the record if using paper records
  • Communicates clinical findings and information obtained from the patient to the provider
  • Assist with provider correspondence and communications as directed for clinical care
  • Provide support in performing QA measures or controls for suites
  • Recognizes and communicates potential patient safety issues
  • Initiates and completes appropriate administrative and quality documentation including security and occurrence reports
  • Supports appropriate ordering of medical supplies demonstrating basic understanding of cost containment

As necessary, may function as a scribe:

  • Accompany the physician during the patient encounter.
  • Transcribe the physician dictated patient history, including history of present illness, review of systems, past medical, surgical, family and social histories, medication and allergies.
  • Transcribe the physical examination findings and procedures as performed by the physician.
  • Transcribe the results of laboratory and radiographic studies as directed by the physician.
  • Transcribe patient education and explanations of risks and benefits as performed by the physician.
  • Pend orders for referrals, tests, medications and procedures as directed by the physician.
  • Prepare and edit scribed document for physician review and signature.

Requirements/Preferences:

  • Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from accredited California Medical Assistant school; have national certification as Medical Assistant ; or documented equivalent military experience or training
  • 1 - 5 years of years of experience in outpatient medical setting preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Must have or obtain AHA Healthcare Provider certification after employment.
  • Phlebotomy certified
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Understands and is able to support patient care flow
  • Ability to prepare patient for office visit/procedures
  • Obtain vital signs and accurately record data
  • Obtain and record current medications that patient is using
  • Perform basic testing, specimen collection and prepare lab work/specimens for pick up
  • Understands the 7 rights of medication administration
  • Understanding of principles of cleaning, sterilization or autoclaving
  • Ability to assist 2 or more providers in clinical care
  • Recognizes potential patient safety issues
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritize work assignments
  • Basic understanding of insurance concepts
  • Ability to schedule patient appointments for phlebotomy, testing or other procedures

Basic knowledge and skills necessary to transcribe patient care as directed by a physician in a legible, clear manner including:

  • Proficiency in typing, spelling, punctuation and grammar of medical terminology.
  • Understand medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments to the extent required'
