PMI Iowa is seeking a Full-Time Shop Laborer for our Custom Steel Fabrication Shop in Ames, Iowa. Through close attention to PMI’s core values of Quality, Safety and Integrity, the Part-Time Shop Laborer will perform various tasks related to the overall organization and support duties of the fabrication shop.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Know and apply all relevant OSHA, and PMI safety policies, procedures, and practices.
• Complete tasks such as assembly of modular towers and equipment, steel parts production and paint prep.
• Clean and organize shop grounds, production floor, break room and facilities.
• Organize a variety of powered, hand-held drills, grinders, and saws, as well as appropriate non-powered hand tools for shop employees to perform tasks.
• Actively discuss cleaning needs with co-workers and supervisors for the purpose of proper shop organization
• As needed, drive and operate PMI trucks, forklifts, and boom lifts after receiving training and when authorized.
• As needed, provide delivery services of equipment/products to project sites, or obtain desired materials from vendors.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent desired. Consistent with company values the candidate must have the desire to learn new processes as well as continue training in the given trade to develop skills.

Competencies and Experience:

• Valid driver’s license required.
• The ability to lift to 70 lbs. as well as handle, move, carry, push, pull, lift and lower tools, materials, equipment and structures continually throughout the workday.
• Knowledge and proper care of cleaning solutions, hand tools and power tools.
• The ability to crouch, kneel, and work with both arms above shoulder height for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
