The Director of Behavioral Health Social Services, along with the Director of Behavioral Health, is responsible for the management, direction, operation and supervision of the Inpatient Psychiatric Units, the Acute Medical Detox Unit and the Emergency Department. He/she manages all Social Work, Discharge Planning, and Substance Abuse Counseling staff. Specific supervisory duties include employee coaching, training, scheduling, hiring, counseling/discipline, performance assessment, and payroll processes. Functions as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients. Acts as a liaison to patients, staff, families, administration, community resources, and outside agencies. Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures, Joint Commission, CMS, CDPH HIPAA, DMH and other regulatory agencies. He/she will have an advanced level of clinical and administrative expertise, with the ability to perform psychosocial evaluations, discharge planning, patient counseling, advocacy, teaching, and referrals as needed. Ensures clinical documentation is complete and thorough. Troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise. Provides clinical supervision hours toward licensure.
